The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) has certified HASC as an HRCI Approved Provider. The program allows HASC to award recertification credit for continuing education to HR professionals who have earned the designation of Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR).
HASC offers more than 20 human resources education and training programs throughout the year, many of which will qualify for HRCI recertification credits. Healthcare human resources professionals can earn recertification points / continuing education credits by attending HASC seminars or webinars that are approved by HRCI.
"We are excited to take our educational programs to the next level by becoming an approved provider," said Teri Hollingsworth, HASC vice president of human resource services. "Because of this certification, healthcare HR professionals who were already benefitting from HASC HR programs will now have added value by participating in the wide variety of educational programs we offer."
Each pre-approved program undergoes a practical analysis performed by the Institute to ensure it meets the criteria of adding to a certified professional's knowledge of the HR field.
Several programs are currently pending approval; more information on the approved HRCI programs will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

Independent Contractor Classification Mistakes Web Seminar
The United States Department of Labor and its Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) have renewed the focus on the misclassification of employees as Independent Contractors. The State of California has also recently increased its regulatory oversight in this area. The consequences for improperly classifying employees as independent contractors can be costly, resulting in back taxes, as well as minimum wage, overtime, and benefits violations. There has also been a spike in class action lawsuits in this area affecting major corporations. Hospitals should take proactive steps to reduce their liability and avoid the mistake of improperly classifying their employees.
